چکیده

The early studies on the specificity of different deoxyribonucleases (DNases) have been reviewed by Schmidt (2). Since that time, digests of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) by DNase I and DNase II were compared in respect to the size of fragments (3). More recently, a partially purified DNase from Micrococcus pyogenes (4) has been shown to produce fragments terminated in 3’-phosphate (4, 5). Independently, and almost simultaneously, in Sinsheimer’s laboratory, Koerner (6) concluded that DNase II from spleen also produced fragments terminated in 3’-phosphate. Besides the specificity toward the 5’-bond of the diphosphate linkage, no other specificity requirements were observed for the latter enzyme. A study of a similar DNase II from thymus, presented in this paper, also leads to the conclusion that the reaction products are terminated in 3’phosphate. Furthermore, it will be shown that the sequence’ Pyp-Pup is absent from the products, thus suggesting that this linkage is preferentially attacked by DNase II.

Immunochemical specificity in lysine-rich histone subfractions.

Antibodies to purified calf thymus Fl, and to chromatographically purified subfractions of calf thymus Fl histones were induced by immunization of rabbits with histone-RNA complexes. Complement fixation studies with these antibodies demonstrated structural differences between the subfractions in one organ and between those of different organs and species. The anti-F1 sera showed varying reactiv...

SURVEY ON THE SENSITIVITY AND SPECIFICITY OF BETA ANGLE IN DIFFERENTIATING SKELETAL CLASS II AND III MALOCCLUSIONS FROM CLASS I

Background & Aims: A successful treatment in the field of medical sciences depends on an accurate diagnosis. In orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning also analyzing the sagittal jaw base relationship is important. Various methods have been suggested for this. This study aimed to investigate the accuracy of beta angle in sagittal jaw base relationship diagnosis. Materials & Methods: In t...

Bone marrow-derived cells fail to induce positive selection in thymus reaggregation cultures

The requirements for inducing positive selection of T cells were examined in thymus reaggregation cultures, a system in which dispersed populations of immature CD4+8+ cells and purified thymic epithelial cells (TEC) are reaggregated in tissue culture. Studies with TEC from mice selectively lacking major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I (I-II+), class II (I+II-), or both class I and II (...

Group A β-hemolytic Streptococcal Infection in Children and the Resultant Neuro-psychiatric Disorder a Cross Sectional Study Tehran, Iran

Introduction: Group A Beta-Hemolytic Streptococcus (GABHS) can induce PANDAS (pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infection). GABHS is the most important and common bacterial cause of acute pharyngitis in Iranian children. We studied the role of GABHS (anti-streptococcal antibodies) in suspected cases of PANDAS in a cross sectional studies. Method...

Immunological relatedness of thymus and liver F1 histone subfracions.

Antibodies to chromatographically purified rat thymus Fl histone subfractions were induced in rabbits by immunization with histone-RNA complexes. The immunological relatedness between each of the rat thymus Fl subfractions and subfractions derived chromatographically from calf thymus and rat liver Fl was determined by quantitative microcomplement fixation. The various rat thymus peaks elicited ...
